Dan Sullivan (SENATOR, R-ALASKA)

  • Mr. Sullivan sold $15,000 to $50,000 in shares of RPM International, a chemical products company and maker of sealants like Rust-Oleum

  • He is a member of an Environment and Public Works subcommittee focused on chemical safety, which represent a potential conflict of interest

Earl Blumenauer (REPRESENTATIVE, D-ORE.)

  • Mr. Blumenauerโ€™s wife bought or sold stocks or bonds in several health care companies, including CVS Health and UnitedHealth Group

  • Both companies offer Medicare Advantage plans (CVS offers plans through its subsidiary Aetna)

  • Mr. Blumenauer sits on the House Ways and Means Committee and its health subcommittee, which have jurisdiction over Medicare

  • Mr. Blumenauer purchased stock in a number of companies, including the defense company Raytheon, on Feb. 24, the day Russia invaded Ukraine

Gerald E. Connolly (REPRESENTATIVE, D-VA.)

  • Mr. Connolly sold some shares in Leidos, a company that works with the government

  • Leidos was discussing paying government contractors for work they missed during government shutdowns - Mr. Connolly was supporting the idea that these contractors should get paid for missed work

  • However, the company Leidos and its employees often donate money to Mr. Connolly's political campaigns, which represents a conflict of interest

  • Mr. Connolly still owns $100,000 to $250,000 in shares of Leidos, among other companies

Josh Gottheimer (REPRESENTATIVE, D-N.J.)

  • Mr. Gottheimer used to work at Microsoft before becoming a member of Congress

  • While in Congress, he has been buying and selling Microsoft stock and options. Two of these transactions in late 2021 were quite large, worth between $5 million and $25 million each

  • During this time, Mr. Gottheimer was part of the Homeland Security Committee, which was discussing cybersecurity issues. This included the SolarWinds cyberhack that affected Microsoft users

  • He's also a member of the Financial Services Committee, and both he and his spouse were trading various bank and brokerage stocks, such as JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Stifel, and BBVA

Kevin Hern (REPRESENTATIVE, R-OKLA)

  • Mr. Hern and his spouse bought or sold shares in 12 oil, gas and utility companies while he was on an energy-related subcommittee

  • They also purchased $300,000 to $615,000 in shares of UnitedHealth Group, a Medicare Advantage plan provider, while he was on the House Ways and Means Committee.

  • That committee has jurisdiction over Medicare, which represents a conflict of interest

Michael C. Burgess (REPRESENTATIVE, R-TEXAS)

  • All but one of the nine transactions reported by Mr. Burgess, from accounts held by himself and his wife, were in companies whose lines of business intersected with the House Energy and Commerce subcommittees, of which he was a member (conflict of interest)

  • Several were sales of options that gave the owner the right to buy the medical technologies company Stryker at a set price in the future
